Dopo l'esaurimento dei combustibili fossili, l'umanità è stata costretta a ripiegare sull'energia solare, costruendo un sistema di anelli orbitanti intorno al pianeta in grado di accumulare e trasferire l'energia. Tali anelli sono stati divisi tra le tre potenze politiche ed economiche in cui si è diviso il pianeta: l’AEU (la nuova Unione Europea), l’Union (America) e l’Alleanza (Asia). Questi tre blocchi si trovano in uno stato di costante guerra fredda che, pur non palesandosi in aperte ostilità, porta a un continuo sviluppo di armi e allo sfoggio della rispettiva potenza e un continuo proliferare dei conflitti, per ragioni di razza, religione o per l’estromissione dall'utilizzo dell'energia solare. In questo quadro appaiono i Gundam Meister il cui compito dovrebbe essere quello di estirpare la guerra tramite l’intervento armato realizzato per mezzo dei Gundam, mobile suit avanzatissimi che non hanno rivali.
